"An Abundance of Kathrines"
Hassan is starting to go out with this girl and Colin isn't happy about it because he doesn't think that Hassan would ever be able to get a girlfriend. Lindsey wants Hollis to like her so she is becoming closer with Colin because she knows Hollis likes Colin a lot. Colin and Lindsey are really starting to figure out the Therom of the break ups of Kathrines.
"An Abundance of Kathrines"
Colin and Hassan have to interview everyone that works at Hollis's factory. A very pretty girl around the age of 22 comes in and Colin instantly falls in love with her, he later finds out that her name is Kathrine. He knew he would never have a chance with her because of their ages. Colin doesn't even want to try because he is still focused on her last girlfriend named Kathrine. Hassan went to hang out with Lindsey and her boyfriend and they end up getting a long very well. Colin is upset about that.
"An Abundance of Kathrines"
The boys are still living with Hollis and Lindsey. Colin told his parents that he was only living with them for like another week so his mom wouldn't freak out, but his mom and Hollis talked and his mom is okay with staying there. Colin thinks that Hassan likes Lindsey which is a problem because Lindsey has a boyfriend. Lindsey's boyfriend doesn't like Hassan or Colin and he is mad that they are staying at Lindsey's house. Hassan and Lindsey start to make fun of Colin's talent of being able to anagram everything. Colin feels very offended.
"An Abundance of Kathrines"
Lindsey (the girl that helped Colin when he fell) has now taken Colin and Hassan back to the store where they meet Lindsey's mom (Hollis). Hollis finds an interest in Colin and Hassan but, especially Colin because she thinks that he would be better for Lindsey than her current boyfriend, who's name is also Colin. Hollis invites the boys over to her house for dinner. Hassan and Hollis ride together and Lindsey rides with Colin just in case he crashes because he can't see very well. Hollis ends up liking the boys so much that she offers them each a job at the store for the summer, paying pretty good. The boys end up taking it!
"An Abundance of Kathrines"
Colin just graduated high school and recently got dumped by his girlfriend, Kathrine, the 19th Kathrine he has ever been dumped by. Colin and his friend decide to go on a road trip to no specific destination so Colin can try to get over Kathrine. They are some where in Tennessee and they stop to see a grave of some guy. On there way up to the grave (led by a "hot" girl) Colin falls and has hurt himself. The girl happens to be a permedic in training so she runs back down the hill to the office to get help.
"Looking For Alaska"
The night that they got back from doing the prank, Colonel, Miles, and Alaska all got super drunk. Alaska got a phone call and after being on the phone she came running into the room telling the guys that she needed to leave. They didn't think she would actually leave campus so they let her go. Miles and Colonel didn't know that, that would be the last time they ever talked to or saw Alaska, Alaska ended up getting into a car accident and dying on impact. She swerved and hit a cop car (they were thinking she did it on purpose). After her funeral the guys were determined to figure why she would do such a thing and her so many people. They figured it was because her boyfriend was the one that called her and they got in a fight so she was going to go see him (they later found out that it was her boyfriend that she talked to but she wasn't going to see him). The night in the barn Alaska told everyone about her mom and how she had a heart attack and Alaska never did anything to help her because she was so in shock so she practically watched her mom die, and she never did anything about it. Alaska told everyone that she felt like it was her fault that her mom died. After doing some "research" the guys figured out that the night she got in the car accident was the same day/night that her mom died and she totally forgot to go visit her grave, that's why she was so upset. She was so drunk and not in her right mind that she ran into the cop car (on purpose). After figuring all that out they did one last prank on the whole school in memory of Alaska.
"Looking for Alaska"
All the kids finished the prank successfully and had stayed the night in the barn where they all got super drunk off of wine. They all told each other about their best day of their lives and the worst day of their lives. Alaska told everyone about her best day which happened to be the worst day too, on that day she watched her mother day right in front of her. From that experience she feels like it is all her fault that her mother died because she didn't call the ambulance. Miles said that, that day was the best day of his life because he was hanging out with his friends and getting drunk. When they all started to settle into bed Miles attempted to hold Lara's hand which later ended up in them making out. Miles asked Lara to be his girlfriend and he said that, that was a great ending to the best day of his life. They all returned to their dorms after checking in with the Eagle and so far he has suspected nothing.
I started a new book that I never finished from last year so I am picking up where I left off. "Looking for Alaska" by John Green is about a young man that is just entering a new college and meets the girl of his dreams, Alaska. Alaska unfortunately has a boyfriend and is not at all interested in Miles (main character), she would rather just be friends. Where I have left off in the book from last year is Miles, The Colonel (Miles roommate), Alaska, and a few other friends are currently in the process of doing a preprank to The Eagle. Miles is very worried that they are going to get expelled because they are planning on hacking into the computer grade system and telling The Eagle's parents that he is failing a lot of his classes. They have just set off fireworks to get The Eagle's attention so he will get out of the house. The Eagle has threatened to call the cops but The Colonel says not to worry about it because he always threatens to call the cops but never does.
The main character Jeanette is talking to her mom about her adoption.
